Some hamsters may pee in their sandbaths. Why ? Probably because they are not litter trained. That doesnt mean you will have to spend 2 weeks trying to train them. Or that you have to spend 30 minutes trying to scrape the wet sand off of the bottom of the sandbath.

My hamster did the same thing, so I had four options :

1. You actually litter train them.

2. You leave it the way it is.

3. You give them proper litter for them to do their buisness in.

Or, 4. You line the sand bath with newspaper to make it easier to clean.

I went for option 4, but my hamster is a chewer. She just chewed all of the newspaper so in the end her cage looked exactly the same except there were little bits of paper everywhere.

So if your hamster is a chewer, I would suggest options 1,2 and 3.

In the end, I just left it like it was. To get the wet peices of the bottom of the container, I rinsed it with soap and water. Or you can get pet safe disenfectant, too.
