Can hamsters get diabetes ?

Chinese and dwarf hamsters are prone to diabetes. However, syrian hamsters are immune.

Pure winter whites can't get diabetes, but they are very rare. You should give dwarf and chinese hamsters low sugar treats, or dog biscuits. Cut the dog biscuits first, though.

Also, don't give vegetables that are high in sugar to often, such as carrots, or your hamster might get diabetes. Don't give bread or biscuits that often, either.
